The Evangelical College for Church Music Halle (Saale) was founded on April 18, 1926 by the consistory of the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony in Aschersleben .
On January 29, 1939, the church music school moved from Aschersleben to Halle , to the building of the Silesian Konvikt at Wilhelmstrasse 10, today Emil-Abderhalden- Strasse.
In 1993 the Protestant Church Music School was given the status of a university . It is now called the Evangelical College for Church Music Halle (Saale). In 2001 the company moved to Handelkarree (Kleine Ulrichstrasse 35). There the university is now in the immediate vicinity of the musicological institute of the university , the Halle music library and the Handel House .
