The Theological University Friedensau is a state-recognized university in free church sponsorship based in Friedensau , a district of the city of Möckern in Saxony-Anhalt . It is worn by the Seventh-day Adventist Church .
history
Founded in 1899 at the instigation of Ludwig Richard Conradi as an "industrial and mission school" with initially seven students in Friedensau , it developed in the first half of the 20th century into a church educational institution for the entire Central and Eastern European area.
In the heyday up to the First World War , up to 250 people completed their training every year. From 1914, part of the school building was used as a hospital . Lessons could not be resumed until 1919. During the Second World War , teaching had to be stopped again. In 1943, the Wehrmacht confiscated most of the buildings and set up a hospital again. The Soviet army later also used Friedensau as a hospital. In 1947 the buildings were released again.
The seminar was able to assert itself in the 40 years of the GDR and developed into a university that has been state-recognized since 1990. Today the Friedensau Theological College is one of the two church colleges in Saxony-Anhalt alongside the College of Church Music in Halle . Nine professors are currently teaching at the university with their staff.
