Furthermore, the university is responsible for recruitment selection procedures and carries them out.

  • Section I: Management and Operational Sciences

  • Section IV: Social Sciences

history

The development of the University of Applied Sciences derives from the earlier status of Aschersleben as a garrison town . At the current location of the school there was an artillery barracks of the Wehrmacht until the Second World War . After the end of the war and the founding of the GDR , the location was used by the police for decades. Initially as the Central School of the People's Police (1951 to 1958), to which the middle police school was affiliated (1958 to 1963). The institution was renamed several times: from the "Central Training Institute of the Ministry of the Interior (MdI) of the GDR" (1963 to 1965) to the "Technical School of the MdI" (1965 to 1976) to the "Officers School of the MdI". The school site was run under the latter name until 1990.

After the end of the GDR and German reunification (as well as a transition period during which training was temporarily outsourced to Neustrelitz and Lower Saxony ), the campus still serves as a teaching, training and further education institution for the Saxony-Anhalt police. Initially, there were two legally different institutions at the site: the “University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Justice, Police Department”, which organized the higher-level police training, and the “State Police School” responsible for the middle-class. Both institutions merged in October 1997 through the law on the establishment of a police college and the amendment of university and civil service regulations of September 12, 1997 (last amended on February 14, 2006) to form the "police college".

Selection process

In order to be able to begin training in the middle service or a degree in the higher service of the Saxony-Anhalt Police, applicants must complete a selection process. The aim is to find suitable applicants who meet the requirements of the law enforcement service. According to press releases from the Ministry of the Interior, 150 civil servants are to be appointed annually from 2009, so that they can begin their training or studies in Saxony-Anhalt.

Campus area

With the exception of small and medium-sized construction projects in the past few decades, hardly any changes were made to the college campus until the end of the 2000s. In some cases, teaching and residential buildings were modernized or necessary innovations (media center, internet rooms, ...) were set up. Other buildings and areas of the location were used from earlier times, operated until they were unprofitable and finally closed.

This was particularly noticeable in the accommodation buildings. Initially, towards the end of the 1990s, the residence obligation (obligation to live on campus) was lifted, then more and more residential buildings were gradually closed due to their poor condition. Until April 2005, the students and trainees had the opportunity to live on campus, until the last accommodation buildings were closed and the students have since had to take care of external accommodation on their own. Since 2012 it has also been possible to live on the university's campus again.

In 2010 the college campus underwent extensive renovation work. The campus was downsized and individual buildings (for example the cultural center) were sold. In addition, a new sports hall, cafeteria and lecture hall were built, as well as a redesign of the central campus area.

Others

  • Until 2003, the University of Applied Sciences owned an external property in Rübeland , which was used for congresses and further training measures.
  • A collection of police historical exhibits and objects from various past decades, which is now integrated into the criminal investigation center located in the city center , was housed in the college until the mid-2000s.
