The University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Services (FHVD) is a university in Altenholz and Reinfeld (Holstein) in Schleswig-Holstein .

Through application-oriented teaching, it is intended to provide an education that enables students to apply scientific methods and knowledge in fulfilling their official duties in a free democratic constitutional state and prepares them for their responsibility in society.

Graduates of a course of study at the university of applied sciences are awarded the diploma degree (e.g. Dipl.-Finanzwirt / -in) or the Bachelor (BA or LL.B.) as a university degree.

history

In August 1975 it started teaching with three and a half full-time teachers and 125 students. Previously, the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament had decided by law of October 7, 1974 to establish a training center for administration as a public corporation. Its task should be to train employees of the public administration in Schleswig-Holstein and to promote their further training.

To fulfill its tasks, the Training Center for Administration (AZV) set up the university as an administrative-internal educational institution. With the founding of the university, Schleswig-Holstein was one of the first federal states to comply with the recommendation of the Conference of Interior Ministers for the introduction of technical college training for the senior service from 1970. In the first few years the number of students averaged between 100 and 300, and then down In 1978 it rose to almost 800 in 1984.

On August 1, 1996, the university had almost 1300 students, the highest level in its history. Currently (2016/2017) around 1000 students are studying at this educational institution.

Today the university has almost 40 full-time teachers and well over 100 part-time lecturers from science, business and administrative practice.

Students can use the two academic libraries at the Altenholz and Reinfeld locations. There are 18,000 media units and 150 regularly updated magazines available.

Since the 2007/08 winter semester, the FHVD has offered the security management course in the Police Department. However, the course is no longer offered. The safety management contact course following the BA course is currently no longer being carried out.

In the pension insurance department, the final year 2010 will be the last year to graduate with a diploma. The final year 2011 will be the first year to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts - Social Security Management (focus on pension insurance) . In 2013, the Bachelor of Laws - Social Security Management (focus on pension insurance) was introduced. In addition, the department offers the specialist course on pension advice.
