The West Coast University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1993. In 2000 the university moved to a new building in the east of the Schleswig-Holstein town of Heide .

Approx. 1980 German and international students study in the business and technology departments .

The university supports and promotes study and internship semesters abroad. We currently have close relationships with universities in Carlow ( Ireland ), Tampere ( Finland ), Herning ( Denmark ), Kapfenberg ( Austria ), Angers ( France ), Valencia ( Spain ), Mexico City ( Mexico ), Basel ( Switzerland ) and Ventspils ( Latvia ). The university also cooperates closely with the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology in Hangzhou, China.

history

The West Coast University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1993 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and politicians in the region. It initially started operations in rented rooms. In 1997 the first graduates could be passed.

In 2000 the university moved into its newly built building in the east of Heide. In 2008 there were already around 400 freshmen, so that in 2009 around 1,200 students were already enrolled at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences. By the 2015/16 winter semester, the university had grown to over 1,500 students; In the 2019/20 winter semester, almost 2,000 students were counted.
