Old wood ( Low German : Olenholt ) is an office-free municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein . The community is located on the Danish Wohld peninsula near Kiel .
Geography and traffic
The community area includes more than 1,800 hectares of forest and agricultural areas that benefit those seeking relaxation. In addition to the Kiel Canal , the Eider Canal and the forests around Knoop, Projensdorf and Friedrichshof deserve special mention.
The Altenholz community consists of the districts and settlements of Klausdorf, Stift, Knoop, Postkamp, Kubitzberg, Dehnhöft and Friedrichshof.
history
On the night piece Berg am old Eider canal can be Neolithic megalithic tombs and Bronze Age grave mounds found.
The name Altenholz goes back to the forests that used to exist, hence the coat of arms with the oak, because this is the symbol of strength and old age.
The community was originally called Klausdorf , was a rural community in the Eckernförde district of the Prussian province of Schleswig-Holstein and from 1889 belonged to the Knoop district. In 1928 the disbanded manor districts of Knoop, Projensdorf and Stift were incorporated into the community. In 1930 the administrative districts in the Eckernförde district were reorganized and the municipality came to the Schilksee district, from which the Danishhagen office was formed in 1948 . In 1933 the community, which has been vacant since 1963, was renamed Altenholz .
The formerly purely rural municipality of Altenholz is a suburban municipality with a small-town character. Despite a certain urban development in the districts of Klausdorf and Stift, the more rural character of the other districts has been preserved.
