Strande is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . The place is a Baltic Sea resort .

geography

Strande is located about 20 km north of downtown Kiel on the Danish Wohld peninsula on the Baltic Sea . It is located about one kilometer north of the Kiel city limits ( Schilksee district ).

The municipality includes the following districts:

Mill pond, about 10 households, 500 meters north of the main town
Eckhof, about 10 households, 1000 meters west of the main town
Rabendorf (only partially to the beach)
Freidorf (just east of the main road to Strande) - Freidorf was founded in 1788 when Count von Holck, the landlord of Eckhof, named the resulting village "Freidorf" (free owners) after setting up four kätner posts and dismissing the serfs of his estate and made the area of today's Freidorf available to them to live there.

The community borders on Schwedeneck , Dänischenhagen and Kiel-Schilksee with the Schilksee Olympic Center .

history

Strande is also a former military base. At today's address "Stohler Landstrasse 31" (previously presumably Marienfelder Strasse 125) there is a U-shaped building complex that was previously used by the Bundeswehr under the name "Anlage Belvedere" until at least mid-1998. As early as 1959, the Panzer Reconnaissance Company 180 was housed here and the last unit was the 2nd Company of the 1st Marine Transport Battalion.

Infrastructure

Strande is located on K 17, Fördestrasse or Stohler Landstrasse, a well-developed two-lane road. It is partially signposted as a branch route Kiel or a branch route Eckernförde.

Furthermore, Strande is the terminus of some bus routes of the Verkehrsverbund Region Kiel (VRK) and is therefore well connected to Kiel city center. During the summer months, the passenger ships of the towing and ferry company Kiel Strande, popularly known as "Fördedampfer", also stop at. It is possible to take bicycles with you.

Strande has a sports boat harbor, a primary school , a kindergarten , a volunteer fire brigade and a beach that is subject to visitor tax and one that is not subject to visitor tax. Strande is not only a popular holiday destination in summer.

In addition to the marina and the activities associated with it, Strande offers well-developed paths by the sea. Furthermore, there are two sandy beaches north and south of the harbor in Strande, the northern one has infrastructure such as beach chairs . The small bay between the Strande yacht harbor and the Schilksee Olympic Center is a well-known diving spot . Seagrass meadows are found at depths between three and five meters . The rocks and the two steel dolphins of the southern breakwater particularly attract young fish.
