Neudorf-Bornstein ( Danish Nytorp-Bornsten ; Low German : Niedbod-Bornsteen ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein on the Danish Wohld peninsula . In addition to the two eponymous villages, the community includes the old estates Behrensbrook and Rothenstein as well as numerous smaller farms.
Geography and traffic
Neudorf-Bornstein is located about 8 km southeast of Eckernförde on the federal highway 76 to Kiel .
history
From 1967 to 1970 so-called princely graves were excavated in the municipality. These are graves of members of a high-ranking Germanic population group from the later Roman Empire (3rd century AD).
politics
Community representation
In the local elections in 2003, the SPD received six seats and the CDU five in the municipal council. After the 2008 local elections, the SPD had six seats, the FWG-NB electoral community received three and the CDU two seats. Since the municipal elections in 2013, the CDU has seven and the SPD four seats in the municipal council.
In 2013, the previous mayor Birgit Hackmann (SPD) was replaced by Claus Biehl (CDU).
In November 2019 Christoph Arp (CDU) took over the office of mayor from Claus Biehl (CDU).
