Loose ( Danish : Lose ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Loose is located about 8 km northeast of Eckernförde on the Schwansen peninsula . The Schwansenstraße ( Bundesstraße 203 ) from Eckernförde to Kappeln crosses the municipality in a north-south direction and divides the village into the districts of Loosau in the west and Loose (Dorfstraße) in the east. In addition, the villages of Grünthal ( Grøndal ), Ilewitt ( Ileved ), Kasmarkhof, Kommherut, Lüttrott ( Lillerød ), Mohrbergmühle, Rosahl, Tolsrüh ( Thorsrye ) as well as the manors Kasmark with Kasmarkholz ( Kasmarkholt ), Charlotten-, Erichs- and Osterhof are in the municipality .

history

The village of Loose was first mentioned in 1339 as in uilla Losæ . The place name derives either from the Middle Low German loosely (≈water solution, drainage ditch), from the Old Danish equivalent to Old English hlose (≈ pigsty, shed) or from Lo (altn. Laukr ≈Lauch, also sea edge ) and -sø (altn. Sær ≈die Lake). In the late Middle Ages, Loose was a settlement belonging to the Saxtorf manor (today the municipality of Rieseby ), which became an independent municipality in 1865 after the Duchy of Schleswig fell from Denmark to Prussia. The above mentioned manors and Ilewitt were originally Meierhöfe von Saxtorf. 1.6 kilometers northeast of the village is the large stone grave Loose .

politics

Community representation

Of the twelve seats in the municipal council, the CDU has had six seats since the 2013 local elections, the WVL four seats and the SPD two seats.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In gold under a blue wave shield head and above a blue wave shield base a red rose with green sepals between two green oak leaves."

The heraldic rose illustrates the central position of the place on the Schwansen peninsula between the waters. Correspondingly, the wave shield head stands for the loop and the wave shield base for the Baltic Sea. The oak leaves on both sides of the rose point to the huge oak forest (the Isarnhoe ) that once covered the area, and at the same time represent the two districts of Loose and Loosau.

economy

In addition to the citizens meeting in the former dairy a guest house and conference in the former village inn has Lindenhof cultural events space. Apart from a carpentry and two roofing companies, the village economy has largely come to a standstill, with the exception of the petrol station on Schwansenstrasse.

Social facility

In the community there is a kindergarten , since 1964 a chapel (2020 deconsecrated), a civic meeting place and a sports club. Because of the declining number of pupils, the pupils of the former Loose elementary school have been sent to the one in Barkelsby since summer 2006 .
