Christian Koeck

Christian Köck (born July 1, 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian health economist, entrepreneur and former politician.

Career

Köck is a doctor of medicine and general practitioner as well as a trained psychotherapist. He also received his PhD from Harvard University in 1993 in the field of health policy and health economics. From 1990 to 1995 he was head of the organizational development and quality management department of the Vienna Hospital Association. Since 1998 he has been a university professor at the University of Witten-Herdecke and holds the chair for health policy and health management. From 2000 to 2004 he was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Witten-Herdecke. In the Austrian and German media he is a widely cited expert on health policy.

Since 2004 he has been the sole director of Health Care Company AG, later HCC Health Care Company GmbH in Vienna, which opened its first "Life Medicine Resort" in September 2008 after an investment of 62 million euros in Bad Gleichenberg, Styria , a combination of 4- Star hotel, hospital and spa facility. Köck was a member of the editorial board of the British Medical Journal (BMJ) from 1996 to 2004 and chairman of the Society for Quality Management in Health Care (GQMG) from 1996 to 2002 . In 2000 he was briefly the national spokesman for the Liberal Forum . Since 2011 he has been a member of the supervisory board of the Vienna Hospital Association.

In addition to his professional interests, Christian Köck is also involved in the cultural field. He is a member of the board of directors and the working committee of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft and majority owner of the internationally renowned record label col legno (record label) , which has been known for many years for its productions in the field of contemporary classical music and has received several international awards.
