Ilewitt

Ilewitt ( Danish Ileved ) is a settlement on the Schwansen peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein . The place is about 4 km from the Baltic Sea and belongs to the municipality of Loose ( Rendsburg-Eckernförde district ), the main town of which is Loose, about 2 km southwest of Ilewitt.

Ilewitt was the Meierhof of the Saxtorf estate until 1799 . Three years after the owner's death (1863), the property was divided into New and Old Ilewitt by lot in 1866. The place name is composed of Ile for Danish. Igleleech (cf. Old Norse īgull ) and -witt for Danish. ved(cleared) forest together.
