Hamdorf ( Danish Hammeltorp ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Hamdorf-Weide, Scheidekoppel, Wittenbergen, Sandknöll, Stierrade and Kamp are in the municipality.

Hamdorf is located in the Geest north of the Eider , about 15 km southwest of Rendsburg . Hamdorf is surrounded by meadows and isolated moors and forest areas. The main traffic connection is the federal highway 203 in the direction of Rendsburg and Heide .

history

The area around Hamdorf was already settled in pre-Christian times, as excavations and grave finds show. Hamdorf was first mentioned as "Hammathorp" in a document from 1285 in which it was awarded to the Danish crown . Belonging to southern Schleswig, Hamdorf came to Prussia in 1864 after the Second Schleswig War .

The wave bar symbolizes the proximity of the village to the Eider , the heron is the breeding colonies of these birds in the vicinity and the early colonization is symbolized by the urn.

The community is predominantly agricultural. In addition to an inn, a gas station and a discounter, there are a number of smaller commercial and craft businesses.

Hamdorf has a primary school and a kindergarten.
