Timmaspe is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Timmaspe is located about 8 km northwest of Neumünster and 4 km southeast of Nortorf on the federal highway 7 and the former federal highway 205 to Rendsburg . The Aspe station on the Neumünster – Flensburg line was located roughly in the middle between the centers of Timmaspe and Krogaspe .
history
The place is located in a heather area, which was created through the mining and smelting of lawn iron ore in prehistoric times, as the forest areas of the region were cleared through the consumption of wood during smelting. It was not until the 18th and 19th centuries that attempts were made to reforest the area, mainly with conifers.
Timmaspe was first mentioned in 1320 as Tymmenaspe . The place name means Espenort des Timmo . An aspen is an aspen.
The largest domestic animal cemetery in Europe has been located in Timmaspe since 1981 .

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council has the Wählergemeinschaft KWG since the municipal election in 2013 seven seats, the voter community ATW had two seats (fraction Resolution 2015) and the SPD two.

Personalities associated with Timmaspe
- Walter Bartram (1893–1971) was a German politician (CDU). He was Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein from 1950 to 1951. From 1947 he was the owner of the Aspe concentrate factory in Timmaspe.
