Rickert is a municipality in Schleswig's Geest near Rendsburg in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein. Ahrenstedt, Duten and Kamp belong to the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Rickert is located directly north of Rendsburg in the Hüttener Berge nature reserve . To the west run the federal highway 77 and the railway line from Rendsburg to Schleswig , to the east runs the federal highway 7 , also from Rendsburg to Schleswig. With the bus line 19 of the city traffic Rendsburg the public transport connection of the place is ensured.
history
Archaeological finds show that the area was settled in the Neolithic Age . The place itself was mentioned for the first time in 1470 and initially belonged to Duvenstedt , but the meaning of the place name has not been clarified.
In the 17th century there was great stress from the plague, the Thirty Years War and the Swedish-Danish War . Parts of Duten and Ahrenstedt were temporarily abandoned by their residents and turned into devastation. In 1712 the village was ravaged by the plague again , the dead were buried within the village on the Karkhoff.
During the wars in the 19th century, French , Russian , Swedish and Austrian troops were quartered in Rickert . At the end of the Franco-Prussian War , a peace oak was planted in 1871. This peace oak later became part of the coat of arms and is still in the town center today.

The community is predominantly agricultural, but also has a few businesses. There are also extensive residential areas. Many residents commute to Rendsburg, Kiel or Büdelsdorf .
