geography

location

The Hüttener Berge - part of the Schleswig-Holstein hill country  - are roughly between Fleckeby in the north, Ascheffel in the east, Alt and Neu Duvenstedt in the south and Brekendorf in the west. The neighboring landscapes include the great Schleswig Geest in the west, Schwansen in the northeast and the Danish Wohld in the east.

geology

The Hüttener Berge were formed during the last Ice Age ( Vistula Glacial Age ), through oscillation (back and forth movement) of the inland ice. This resulted in a compression of the subsoil and more pronounced elevations formed than the terminal moraines , which are otherwise often found in the eastern hill country of Schleswig-Holstein.

Hüttener Berge Nature Park

The boundaries of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park (NSG No. 33392), which was founded in 1971 and is around 219 km² in size, extend far beyond those of the Hüttener Berge in its western part and almost touch the Eckernförde Bay in the east . To the north is the Schlei Nature Park and to the south - a little beyond the Kiel Canal  - the Westensee Nature Park .

These communities belong to the nature park (mostly belonging to the Hüttener Berge office ): Ahlefeld-Bistensee , Alt Duvenstedt , Ascheffel , Borgstedt , Brekendorf , Bünsdorf , Damendorf , Groß Wittensee , Haby , Holtsee , Holzbunge , Hütten , Klein Wittensee , Neu Duvenstedt , Osterby , Owschlag and Sehestedt .

Zn the still waters include the Natural Park: Bistensee , Fresensee , Heidt calibration , Owschlager lake and Wittensee . Its rivers include: Alte Eider , Hüttener Au , Mühlenbach , Osterbek , Sorge and Schirnau .

The Naturparkweg hiking trail connects five nature parks in Schleswig-Holstein .

Mountains and landscape

The highest point in the Hüttener Mountains is the Scheelsberg near Ascheffel. On the nearby Aschberg is a Bismarck -Standbild and on the top of the popular among hikers Heidbergs ( Heideberg ) is a boulder . The Eckernförde Bay and the Schlei can be seen from the mountains .

The elevations of the Hüttener Berge include - with height in meters (m) above sea level (NHN):

  • Scheelsberg ( 105.8  m ), west of Ascheffel
  • an elevation ( 105.1  m ), northwest of Ascheffel
  • Aschberg ( 97.7  m ), south of Ascheffel
  • Heidberg (also called Heideberg ; 99.1  m ), west-southwest of Ascheffel

climate

A special feature of the Hüttener Berge is the varied microclimate . While on the west side near Owschlag the annual average of the temperatures is 9.3 ° C (mean 1997-2005), the place Ascheffel on the east side has an annual average of 9.8 ° C. This is due to the slightly elevated and relatively sheltered location of this place. In addition, precipitation on the west side of the Hüttener Mountains is around 930 mm (l / m²) per year, which is considerably higher than in the east, where it is only 660 mm.
