Damendorf (Danish Damtorp ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Eckerkoppel, Damm, Fresenboje, Lehkrug, Kirchhorst, Papenwohld, Petersburg, Schlotendoor, Seemoor and Spann are in the municipal area.
Geography and traffic
Damendorf is 8 km southwest of Eckernförde , 17 km southeast of Schleswig and 15 km north of Rendsburg in the Hüttener Berge nature reserve . The federal highway 7 runs to the southwest from Rendsburg to Schleswig, to the north the federal highway 76 from Schleswig to Eckernförde and southeast the federal highway 203 from Rendsburg to Eckernförde.
history
Damendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1518. The name is derived from the village of Damo . The place was founded as a street village, but has developed into a cluster village with scattered settlements in the area.
At the end of the 17th century a trapping pit for wolves was created, which is still preserved as a depression and field name.
In Damendorf in whose municipality the Rummoor and Seemoor are numerous were bog bodies found. One of them is known as Mann von Damendorf and is exhibited today in the Landesmuseum Schloss Gottorf . The lake moor is now open to tourists as a moor experience area.
