Blumenthal is a municipality on the Eider in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Blumenthaler Berg, Osselberg and Jägerberg are in the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Blumenthal is located about 15 km southwest of Kiel on the federal motorway 215 . Originally the only junction on this motorway, which connects Kiel with Federal Motorway 7 , bears the name of the place.

The place, which originated as a street village and has developed into a clustered village since the 19th century , was first mentioned in a document in 1304.
