Village

Beldorf is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . The community consists of the village of Beldorf and the smaller districts of Grünental, Aalhoop, Wilhelmsburg and Klein Amerika.

Geography and traffic

Beldorf is about 17 km southwest of Heide on both sides of the Kiel Canal . The town center is on the south bank. The federal highway 23 runs from Hamburg to Heide 5 km west of Beldorf . The place is also on the railway line Büsum – Heide (Holstein) –Neumünster . At today's single-track stop in Beldorf there is a connection every two hours to Büsum via Heide or to Neumünster via Hohenwestedt via the regional train line 63, which is operated by the nordbahn .

The name of the hamlet Klein Amerika (or Lütt Amerika ) refers to the name of a farm that was built from 1850 to 1855 by a farmer whose brothers had emigrated to the United States.

High bridge

Beldorf was first mentioned before 1500.

In 1892, three years before the Kiel Canal was completed, the first canal bridge was built in Beldorf with the Grünentaler Hochbrücke . It was replaced by a new building in 1986.

In 1998 a community wind farm was founded.
