Geography and traffic
Lindau is located about 12 km northwest of Kiel , 8 km south of Eckernförde and 17 km northeast of Rendsburg between Wittensee , Kiel Canal and Eckernförde Bay . The federal highway 76 runs from Kiel to Eckernförde about 5 km northeast of Lindau, and the federal highway 203 runs from Rendsburg to Eckernförde about 7 km northwest .
Of the 13 seats in the municipal administration, the CDU has had seven seats since the 2008 local elections and the SPD and the FWGL electoral community each have three seats.

Düvelstein / Teufelsstein
The Düvelstein or Teufelsstein near Großkönigsförde is the largest boulder in Schleswig-Holstein. According to legend, the devil hurled him at the St. Jürgen Church in Gettorf . Though he reportedly narrowly missed the church, it should be his fault that it is crooked today.
