Osterrönfeld is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located on the south side of the Kiel Canal across from the city of Rendsburg .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1330, through the construction of a chapel at the gates of the city of Rendsburg with the associated lands and houses.

The name 'Osterrönfeld' comes from the location of the place on the east bank of the so-called Rinne or Rönne. What is meant is today's Wehrau , which got its name from the fact that in times of war this small river could be dammed to defend the town of Rendsburg.

The core of the original village was a little further south-east; it was completely destroyed by fire in 1702. The name of the district and the "Ohldborough" (Altdorf) building area opened up in 1999 indicate this.

A significant supraregional connection to Osterrönfeld took place with the construction of the railway in 1845, although the village only got its own train station after the Husum – Kiel line was expanded to Kiel .

The construction of the Kiel Canal at the end of the 19th century brought about another important change. Many construction workers stayed and settled here. The first widening of the canal in 1911 led to the construction of the viaduct and the construction of today under monument protection standing transporter bridge . The original Osterrönfeld station was relocated to the railway embankment, and today there is a gas storage facility there. By 1975, there were Osterronfeld of a siding to a shipyard in Audorf. It is a remnant of a connecting railway that led to the industrial plants on today's Rader Island .

An independent congregation was Osterronfeld in 1,953th

Economy and Infrastructure

Senvion administration building

In December 2006 it became known that the Hamburg wind turbine manufacturer REpower was planning to set up a production site in Osterrönfeld. It was planned to produce both land-based and sea-based wind turbines directly on the Kiel Canal. Since overland transport would not have been possible in some cases due to the size of the systems, a quay was built through which large system elements can be transported by ship over the Kiel Canal.

At least 400 jobs should be created at the new production site. It would be the largest commercial and industrial company settlement in the region in the last 30 years.

In July 2007, the first written agreement was signed between the Osterrönfeld community, the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district economic development agency and the Hamburg-based wind turbine manufacturer. After the planning procedures under construction and water law had been carried out, construction work began in 2008. However, REpower did not build a production facility in Osterrönfeld, only development and administration were located here (so-called TechCenter). Therefore, Neue Hafen Kiel-Canal GmbH offered the commercial space that was still free to other users. The area was given its own entrance to the B 202, which can be used to reach the A 7 motorway.

In June 2011 the facilities of the New Port Kiel-Canal-Rendsburg Port (NHKC) were completed, they were initially not used. Since February 1, 2012, "Rendsburg Port GmbH" has been operating the New Harbor. Ahlmann-Zerssen GmbH + Co. KG and Brunsbüttel Ports GmbH each hold half in the new company . The port's facilities are used as a heavy-duty port for handling elements for onshore and offshore wind turbines . In June 2012 the first ship with elements for wind turbines was dispatched here. The expansion of the port by expanding the reservoir area by 1.5 hectares was funded with 1.3 million euros from the future program for business (ZPW). One of the first permanent users is the Max Bögl company , which has been building so-called hybrid towers (2/3 made of concrete, 1/3 made of steel) for wind turbines here since summer 2014.

traffic

Osterrönfeld is indirectly connected to the federal motorway 7 and has a direct connection to Kiel via the A 210 . The federal highway 77 leads from Itzehoe to Flensburg .

The station on the Neumünster – Flensburg line has not been used for passenger traffic since 1962.

Osterrönfeld is located on the Kiel Canal and owns the Rendsburg Port (operated by Rendsburg Port GmbH ), a 300 m long quay with two berths for large ships with a draft of up to 9.5 m and two mobile port cranes that operate in tandem can lift up to 250  t .

Osterrönfeld has a substation from which a 380 kV line leads to Denmark. At this substation there is also a 100 meter high directional radio tower made of steel framework construction. There is also a thermal power plant in Osterrönfeld .
