The Wehrau is a small river in Schleswig-Holstein that flows into the Kiel Canal south of Rendsburg .

With a catchment area of 151 km², the Wehrau is the largest tributary of the Kiel Canal after the southern Eider . Originally it was a left tributary of the Eider, but the construction of the canal that runs above Rendsburg in the old Eiderbett cut it off from today's Untereider. Coming from the south, the Wehrau now flows into the Kiel Canal at km 62.3 in Osterrönfeld . In the Middle Ages, the Wehrau was first called Rönne. Its current name probably results from the fact that it was dammed to defend the city of Rendsburg in the event of war.

The Wehrau rises near Emkendorf near the road to Haßmoor and then flows first to the west in the direction of the Emkendorf village of Bokelholm. Here, on the Neumünster – Flensburg railway line , it divides into two arms: The right arm, called Linnbek , receives most of the water and flows northeast of the railway line to Osterrönfeld. The left arm, called Wehrau, draws its water mainly from the Mühlenau coming from Brahmsee and crosses under the railway line twice, first at Bokelholm and then again at Osterrönfeld, where it reunites with the Linnbek.
