Melsdorf is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Ihlberg, Heitholm, Fegefeuer and Wittschaap are in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

The community is located directly west of the state capital Kiel , which it borders. In the north are the communities Ottendorf and Quarnbek , in the south-west Achterwehr .

The community is located on the federal highway 210 , to which it is connected via exit 6. Other important roads lead to the Kiel districts of Mettenhof and Russee, as well as to Ottendorf, Quarnbek and Achterwehr. Melsdorf is connected to the Kiel local transport network via the VRK bus routes 91 and 100 . The Melsdorf stop is on the Husum – Kiel railway line . There hold regional trains in every hour . In the 1980s, what was then the station was closed and the sidings dismantled in the 1990s.
