Data on the VRK (as of 2004)

Association of transport companies in the Kiel region

The VRK was set up as an association of transport companies in the Kiel region. As a result, the number of different tickets in the Kiel region decreased from 227 to 66 today. For example, the Plön District Transport Authority (VKP) used a strip for the strip tickets , for which the section with the price was always to be carried. At KVAG (now KVG ) there were six strips on which the zones were printed. In addition to the tariff harmonization with a uniform ticket offer, the operational cooperation was also expanded. For example, some lines were operated jointly, operating bans for bus stops were lifted, the line network within Kiel was partially completely over-planned and so-called "cross-connections" of lines were made. Many regional bus routes , which previously only ran to Kiel Central Station , were connected beyond this destination. Bus lines from different companies that ran in parallel could also be combined. Overall, this resulted in savings, which in turn could be converted into additional services for the passengers.
