The DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein (short DB Regio SH, formerly regional train Schleswig-Holstein) is part of the DB Regio North and operates rail transport (regional rail) in Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg and Lower Saxony .

history

DB Regionalbahn Schleswig-Holstein GmbH

The DB regional train Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (RBSH) was originally a stand-alone subsidiary of DB Regio AG , based in Kiel . With retroactive effect to January 1, 2006, it was dissolved and merged with the parent company. Since then, DB Regio has operated its trains there under the name Regionalbahn Schleswig-Holstein . At the beginning of 2018, the name Regionalbahn Schleswig-Holstein was largely phased out and replaced by DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein.

DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein was the second company after DB Regio NRW that managed to win back a local transport service that had already been awarded to NE-Bahns for the DB Group: the Regional Express line Hamburg-Neumünster-Flensburg-Padborg (formerly Flensburg-Express ) was operated by the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn (NOB) after the insolvency of Flex Verkehrs-AG . After another Europe-wide tender, however, since the timetable change in December 2005, the DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein has been providing the required services with the so-called Schleswig-Holstein Express , SH-EX for short . At the same time, however, the DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein had to give up operations on the Marschbahn . This was operated by the NOB and taken over again by the DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein at the 2016 timetable change.

Vehicle fleet

LINT railcar 648 955 in the design of the Schleswig-Holstein regional train in Kiel Hbf

For fleet are currently approximately 240 Cart , 65 railcars and 50 locomotives (Dec. 2017), including locomotives of the series 112 , Class 143 , Class 146 , Class 218 and series 245 and railcar of the series 445 (type TWINDEXX), Series 648 and Class 622. Between October and December 2009, the class 628 railcars were replaced by new class 648.3 railcars. This mainly affected the routes from Lübeck to Kiel, Fehmarn and Lüneburg. The new railcars have both car classes, are air-conditioned and have a top speed of 120 km / h. No 628s have been in use in Schleswig-Holstein since the end of 2009. The 628s, which were still in Schleswig-Holstein at the time, were given to other DB Group locations. However, at the annual Kiel Week , rental vehicles of the 628 series from other regions are also used.

By the end of 2009, new double-deck cars were delivered. By August 2009, 28 “Dostos” were available for the Regional Express Hamburg – Kiel, so that four of the five circuits could be driven with double-decker cars. The fifth reserve circuit was still driven with n cars . The regional rail services Hamburg – Ahrensburg – Bad Oldesloe were also converted to double-decker cars in the course of 2009. The n-cars remained on the regional rail services Hamburg – Itzehoe for a few years until 2014.

From 2011 further new diesel multiple units were delivered. The DB had ordered a total of 16 class 648.4 multiple units. These were used from December 2011 in the northern Schleswig-Holstein regional network.

Until the 2014 timetable change, the Hamburg – Flensburg route was operated at the even hour between Hamburg – Neumünster and Neumünster – Flensburg with regional trains consisting of class 143 locomotives with n-wagons; at the odd hour, the route was continuously operated by the Schleswig-Holstein Express consisting of 112 locomotives with modernized interregional cars, since the timetable change in 2014 the SH-Express has been running every hour and stops everywhere between Neumünster and Flensburg. Most of the cars used there had single seats that were installed as part of the “SH99” conversion program shortly before the turn of the millennium.

On December 30, 2015, line RE 7 (Hamburg – Flensburg) was converted to double-decker cars.

With the start of operation of the RE6 and RB62 lines in December 2016, the then regional railway Schleswig-Holstein also took over the vehicle material from the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn . There are 90 married pair cars , 15 locomotives of the 245 series, 2 locomotives of the ER20 type and 3 LINT 54 diesel multiple units , all of which are rented by the Hamburg company Paribus, among others. However, when the operator changed, the married pair wagons were not ready for use due to a defect in the couplings, so older wagons had to be used as replacements for the time being. In addition, additional locomotives of the type ER20 and MaK DE2700 are rented, as some of them have to be driven in sandwich traction.

Since the 2017 timetable change, the Twindexx (ET445) vehicles have been gradually introduced on the RE7 and RE70 lines. The RE7 is divided in Neumünster , one part of the train goes to Kiel Hbf and the other to Flensburg . This means that you can now travel to Kiel Hbf twice an hour without changing trains. The RB77 with old building sets between Kiel Hbf and Neumünster is no longer applicable. The Twindexx vehicles consist of multiple units and two 5th generation Bombardier double-decker cars . The DB Regio Nord in Schleswig-Holstein has a total of 17 railcars available.

Kiel depot

The Kiel depot is responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle fleet. The workshop was opened on June 2, 2010 in the presence of the then Schleswig-Holstein Transport Minister Jost de Jager . The workshop in Lübeck was closed.
