The Itzehoe station is a passenger and freight station in Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located on the Marschbahn , which is electrified from Elmshorn to here . It is listed in station category 3 by Deutsche Bahn . The reception building and its outbuildings are under monument protection .

history

Itzehoes' first train station was on the southern Stör side on the property that was later used by the cement factory . In 1878, when the march line was extended to Heide , the city's second train station was built, the building of which has been preserved. At that time, a wooden bridge on Brückenstraße led over the north end of the station - in the further straight line through the city to Wilster there were four rail-level gated level crossings , which were repealed in 1931 when the route was re-routed to the current route. Since 1889 the trains on the line to Wrist had to pass these obstacles. For the extension to connect the branch line, the depot was built in the northern exit of the station .

On May 29, 1998, the contact wire reached Itzehoe. The use of electric vehicles was only increased after the intervention of the state of Schleswig-Holstein , which had financed the electrification .

business

The regional train lines 61 and 71, which are operated by the Nordbahn with vehicles of the 1428/1429 series from Hamburg-Altona and Pinneberg via Elmshorn, begin and end in Itzehoe . The regional express trains of the DB Regio Schleswig-Holstein from Hamburg-Altona to Westerland / Sylt via Husum stop in Itzehoe, just like the regional train to Heide . Also Intercity trains of DB Fernverkehr keep in Itzehoe and connect the city directly with Stuttgart , Frankfurt , Göttingen and Dresden or in the opposite direction to Westerland.

The Itzehoer Bahnhof has four platform tracks. The first track is called "Track 2". The regional trains to Hamburg run on this . The RE and IC trains to Westerland and some of the regional trains to Heide run on platform 3 . Track 4 is used by RE trains to Hamburg-Altona and IC trains to Stuttgart , Frankfurt , Göttingen and Dresden (Wednesdays and Saturdays only to Berlin Südkreuz ). Track 4 is partially used to get off the RB from Heide. Track 5 is partly the starting point for the RB to Heide and partly also for the RB to Hamburg. Next to these tracks are sidings for freight trains.

Due to the electrification , most intercity trains from the south to Itzehoe are electric. The locomotive is changed at the station and the train runs on diesel for the rest of the route to Sylt. In the opposite direction, the procedure is reversed.

The railway line from Itzehoe to Wrist was still used until September 27, 1975 .

Itzehoe station has been controlled by an electronic signal box (ESTW) since July 1991 . It replaced a mechanical dispatcher interlocking and a switch attendant interlocking. Since June 2003, Wilster train station and the Hochdonn transfer point have also been remote-controlled from here . In 2010 the Heide train station was added.

Trivia

In the crime series “ Stahlnetz ”, the episode “ Das Haus an der Stör ” from 1963 begins with a train ride from Itzehoe station. The interior shots of the station show a large board with the departures of the day, sorted by destination (there were obviously fewer trains than today) and a ticket control barrier in front of the stairs to the platform tunnel.
