The tracks of the train station

The Pinneberg Railway Station is a passenger station in Schleswig-Holstein Pinneberg . It is located on the very busy Hamburg-Altona-Kiel route . It also forms the end point of the S 3 S-Bahn line and has been run by Deutsche Bahn in station category 3 since January 2011 . The oldest station building of its kind in Schleswig-Holstein, which was built in 1848, is also located here. The train station is used by around 19,000 people every day, making it one of the busiest train stations in Schleswig-Holstein. The dilapidated station building is to be renovated in order to integrate it into a newly designed station area, as there are only a few historical buildings left in the city.

business

The station was put into operation on September 18, 1844 with the opening of the Altona – Kiel railway line, making it one of the oldest in Schleswig-Holstein. Since 1967 it has been the terminus of the Hamburg S-Bahn . In 2011 a total of five platform tracks will be available. Tracks 1 and 2 end bluntly south of the reception building and are used by the S-Bahn. Track 3 is on the house platform and there are mainly trains to Neumünster and Kiel . Tracks 4 and 5 are located on an island platform that is accessible via an underpass. The regional train to Itzehoe via Elmshorn runs on platform 4 . Track 5 serves the regional trains to Hamburg-Altona and Hamburg Hauptbahnhof . A sixth track is used as a through track. The freight transport facilities were in the northwest of the station, the tracks there are removed except for the siding.

Conversion and future of the Pinneberg station

The Pinneberg station has been under construction for around 15 million euros since September 3, 2018. In the first phase of expansion of the station, the barrier-free expansion of the traffic station will be realized.

  • The platforms will be renewed and adjusted in size. The platform edges on tracks 3, 4 and 5 will be adjusted to a height of 76 centimeters so that a barrier-free change of passengers is possible.
  • All platforms will have new benches and new shelters for passengers.
  • The roof on the platform on tracks 2 and 3 will be renovated, the platform on tracks 4 and 5 will be given a new 132-meter-long roof.
  • In order to be able to reach all platforms barrier-free, a new pedestrian tunnel is being built, which connects the north and south sides of the station and makes all platforms accessible with elevators. This is also intended to guarantee barrier-free entry and exit for wheelchair users and prams.
  • The first construction phase (upgrading the traffic systems) is to be completed in the summer of 2020.
  • In the second construction phase, the renovation with the listed entrance building is to continue. The building is being converted to include waiting areas, toilets and other service facilities.
  • A pavilion with a DB travel center, a bicycle parking garage and a supermarket on the north side of the station are to be added at the station.
  • All renovation measures should finally be completed in 2022.
  • The P + R space on the north side next to the Fahlt is already completed; Additional P + R spaces on the south side and additional bicycle parking spaces will be built in the course of the construction period.
  • The new bus station (ZOB) is located northwest of the historic reception building; it was put into operation in October 2019. With the relocation of bus services to the new central bus station, a new forecourt will be created in front of the train station.
