Railway stations in the Hamburg area |
The Eidelstedt station of the Hamburg S-Bahn is a transfer hub in the Hamburg district of Stellingen on the border with Eidelstedt in the north-west of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg . It is one of the local transport links between the Altonaer Volkspark and the Volksparkstadion , the HSV venue .
history
The station is on the Altona – Kiel Railway, which opened in 1844. The first stop was further north. In the 1860s, the station was opened at its current location. When the Altona-Kaltenkirchener Eisenbahn (AKE) was relocated, the AKE passenger trains also ran via Eidelstedt from 1912, and the trains stopped in the forecourt of the station. In the course of raising the line, the station was rebuilt around 1920. After completion, the route of the AKE was also increased and the passenger trains on this line have stopped at the state train station since then. The station was initially called Eidelstedt before it was renamed Hamburg-Eidelstedt on April 1, 1938, as a result of the Greater Hamburg Act .
In 1965 the S-Bahn traffic between Holstenstraße and Elbgaustraße was started and today's station was built. The trains of the now operating as the Eisenbahn Gesellschaft Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster ( AKN ) have ended as planned in Eidelstedt. Part of the former AKN route was used for the S-Bahn and the former stations Stellingen and Hamburg-Altona AKN (also called "Kaltenkirchener Bahnhof"), which had been the center of operations until then, were abandoned. The western platform in Eidelstedt was also given up.
In 2006, the AKN received an intersection-free introduction to the train station, in which the line passes under the S-Bahn track in the direction of Pinneberg.
business
Eidelstedt is served by the trains of the S-Bahn lines S3 and S21 as well as the AKN line A1. The S-Bahn lines run every ten minutes during peak and normal traffic times, the AKN every ten to 20 minutes, so that around 30 trains leave the station every hour. With the exception of two connections per day, AKN trains mostly end in Eidelstedt, so their passengers have to change to the S-Bahn in the direction of downtown Hamburg.

construction
The station is located on the embankment and has a 219 meter long central platform . To the south is a sweeping track that is mainly used for AKN trains. To the east of the two S-Bahn tracks is another track that is used to get from the freight bypass line to the AKN main line using a few meters of the S-Bahn line (track towards Pinneberg ). Since 2006, the AKN trains have been entering the S-Bahn station via a height-free threading north of the platform. Before that, the AKN track branched off from the main track in the direction of Pinneberg just behind the station.
