Railway stations in the Hamburg area |
The Hamburg Elbgaustraße station is a station of the Hamburg S-Bahn in the Eidelstedt district . It is served by lines S3 and S21 and is the northern terminus of the latter.
history
The station was built on the Hamburg-Altona-Kiel railway line . Before the construction of the S-Bahn, there was a side platform in each direction on the passenger train iron on the outside of the broad embankment. The platform was in front of the underpass; access was via stairs from Elbgaustraße. In the course of the new construction of the S-Bahn line between the Holstenstrasse and Pinneberg stations , which was built parallel to the line towards Pinneberg, the northeastern platform systems were converted into an S-Bahn station, the southwestern platform towards Altona was omitted. When the first section of the line opened on September 26, 1965, Elbgaustraße was initially the terminus of the S-Bahn line; from September 22, 1967, trains continued to run to Pinneberg.
location
The train station is to the east and across the street of the same name with the postal address "Elbgaustraße 105".
Furnishing
The station has a covered central platform that can be reached from Elbgaustraße via a staircase. Stepless access to the platform is possible. There are bus stops and storage space for bicycles in the vicinity of the train station.
On the S-Bahn line there is a double-track sweeping system to the north of the station, followed by separate maintenance halls for the S-Bahn, which can accommodate four half-trains and are subordinate to the Hamburg-Ohlsdorf depot, as well as a four-track storage facility.
To the northwest of the passenger station there are extensive sidings and the Eidelstedt ICE depot .
business
The train station is a stop on the S3 line. Features of this line can be strengthened or weakened here. Trains on line S21 also start and end here.
