The Wrist station is a passenger station in the center of Wrist ( Steinburg district ) on the Hamburg-Altona – Kiel railway line , and on the Wrist – Itzehoe railway line, which has now been closed . The station is mainly used by commuters. Almost 500,000 passengers use the train station in Wrist every year. There are numerous parking spaces available south of the train station, and there are several bus routes in the forecourt.

In 1844 the station was built by the Altona-Neumünster-Kiel Railway Company (AKE). It was opened with the railway line on September 18, 1844. In 1889 the station was connected to the now closed Wrist – Itzehoe railway line . From 1880 to 1895 the station building was rebuilt. Over the years, the Wrist railway settlement developed around the station . The railway had a great economic influence on the community, which among other things led to the merger of Wrist with the older neighboring community of Stellau, while keeping the name Wrist.

Passenger traffic to Itzehoe was discontinued in 1975, the rest of goods traffic to Kellinghusen in 1995. In 2014/15 the stub of the track to Itzehoe was renewed and provided with overhead lines;

Three tracks run through the station, which are accessed by two platforms . One platform is at the station building, the other two as a central platform between the tracks. The siding for the trains of the RB71 branches off from the passing track.

The station building was up for sale in 2012 because it is no longer needed for operation. In 2019 it will be sold and used privately.
