The FLEX traffic Aktiengesellschaft was a transport company based in Flensburg , the regional rail transport on the line Padborg (Denmark) - Flensburg - Neumuenster - Hamburg business ( " Flensburg-Express "). The line ceased operations after the company's bankruptcy in 2003.
background
Operations started in mid-December 2002 after an interregional train connection between Hamburg and Flensburg was discontinued . In this electric locomotives from Siemens Dispolok and modernized Schnellzugwagen the former Deutsche Reichsbahn used every two hours. An expansion of the route network towards Berlin was planned.
FLEX also operated two bus routes. These were the A 20 airport bus from the Hamburg central bus station to the Lübeck-Blankensee airfield . VHH buses were used on this line. The E 55 line from Berlin to Copenhagen was operated jointly with the Danish partner Gråhundbus . On the German section of the route Berlin – Rostock, an MB O 350 , taken over from NVAG , Niebüll, was used, which was driven by the Berlin company Magasch.
After the insolvency of Flex Verkehrs-AG in August 2003, the "fast" train services on the Padborg – Flensburg – Hamburg route from November 1, 2003 until the timetable change in December 2005 were provided by the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn , which belongs to Veolia Verkehr , accepted. The trains of the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn were still popularly referred to as "Flex", even if this train was not allowed to use this abbreviation due to the trademark rights of Flex Verkehrs-AG. The Nord-Ostsee-Bahn therefore called its trains the “Flensburg Express”. Since December 2005, Deutsche Bahn has been operating the entire route both in regional traffic (under the name Schleswig-Holstein Express ) and in national and international long-distance traffic .
