Sophienhamm (Danish: Sofieham ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district . Oha, Mittelhamm and Achterhamm are in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

Sophienhamm is located on the Eider and the Hohner See about 12 km west of Rendsburg on the federal road 202 from Rendsburg to Eiderstedt .

The Hartshooper Moor, which makes up a large part of the municipality, is under nature protection.

history

The place was founded in the second half of the 18th century as part of the bog colonization and is therefore one of the so-called colonist villages. It is named after Sophie Magdalena , the daughter of King Frederick V of Denmark.
