Gammelby (pronounced: Gammelbü) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Gammelby is located directly northwest of Eckernförde on the federal highway 76 to Schleswig . The farms Birkensee, Flintberg, Johannisberg, Puckholz ( Danish : Pukholt ), Ravensberg and the estates Rögen ( Røgind ) and Eichthal belong to the municipality.

Gammelby was first mentioned in 1339 . The place name comes from Danish and simply means old village . Two villages are attested in the 16th century: Grote Gammelby and Lütke Gammelby ; these came in 1617 initially to the Saxtorf estate, and later to the Rögen estate. Gammelby parish was then created in 1876.
Incorporations
In 1928, the former Rögen Gammelby manor was added.
Outsourcing
On January 1, 1974, the grass wood part of the municipality, which then had more than 70 inhabitants, was assigned to the city of Eckernförde . Grass wood was Eckernförde area until 1637, after that part of the Saxtorf estate.

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the KWG voter community has had six seats since the 2008 local elections and the GWG voter community three.
