Grasswood

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grasholz (outdated: Graßholz ; Danish : Græsholt ; Low German : Grasholt ) is a village in Schleswig-Holstein on the Windebyer Noor , which has been part of Eckernförde since 1974 .

Geographical location and districts

In the north-west of the city of Eckernförde on the federal road 76 (B 76) in the direction of Schleswig and on Windebyer Noor, there are two intersecting districts of Eckernförde: one is grass wood, the other Carlshöhe (Eckernförde) . Grasswood is the furthest from the city center. Apart from Carlshöhe, grass wood borders the communities of Gammelby and Barkelsby as well as the Schnaap exclave in the Borby district of Eckernförde . Districts grass wood are next to Grass Wood itself Sophienruh (Danish .: Sofiero ) and the southern part of Flint Mountain (Danish .: Flintbjerg plattdt, .: Flint Barg ) - The northern part belongs to the municipality continues to Gammelby.

Development

The Preusser barracks is located in Grasholz and has housed the 39 anti-aircraft missile battalion since 1974 . The adjacent former Carlshöhe barracks was already in the neighboring district of the same name. Grasholz has a commercial area ( commercial and industrial area Grasholz ). The residential area in grass wood is to be expanded. The Evangelical Free Church in Eckernförde can be found on the site and the former inn .

traffic

Today's federal highway 76 (B 76) was expanded in 1842 as a state road. Grass wood was the location of a turnpike house, where the so-called road money was collected. The barrier was only opened after payment. Grass wood is the final stop of the local bus line 1 and was, by the way, before the incorporation. At Windebyer Noor there was a railway stop of the Eckernförde Kreisbahnen -Strecke Eckernförde- Owschlag from 1904 to 1954, directly on the border between Grasholz and Carlshöhe, with its name changed several times: from 1904 to 1925 the stop was called Graßholz , from 1925 to 1935 Carlshöhe , from 1935 to 1935 1944 barracks and 1944-1954 again Carlshöhe

history

Grass wood originally belonged to Eckernförde until 1637, was taken by the Lords of Saxtorf and then came to Gut Rögen . Until 1797 Gut Rögen was a Meierhof of Gut Saxtorf . On January 1, 1974, the grass wood part of the municipality , which had more than 70 inhabitants at the time , was spun off from the Gammelby municipality , to which grass wood had previously belonged, and incorporated back into the town of Eckernförde. In cadastral terms, grass wood still belongs to the Gammelby district.

Others

To this day, the phrase that someone works, lives, lives etc. " on " (instead of " in ") grass wood or Carlshöhe has been used in Eckernförde - it is probably due to the fact that it goes uphill from the city center to both places .

The new drainage ditches in the industrial area have been publicly criticized for being a deadly trap for amphibians .

The painter Hans Friedrich Baasch was born in grass wood.
