The Preuss barracks are located in Schleswig-Holstein in the coastal town of Eckernförde on Windebyer Noor in the Grasholz district . The barracks was named after Ludwig Theodor Preußer , a Schleswig-Holstein NCO who played a decisive role in the battle near Eckernförde in the 19th century . In 1974 the barracks were occupied. Initially, the anti-aircraft missile battalion 39 was housed in the Preuss barracks with its staff battery, its supply battery and the 2nd and 3rd batteries until it was dissolved at the end of 2002. The Carlshöhe barracks existed in the immediate vicinity until it was closed in 2001 .
