Hans Friedrich Baasch

Hans Friedrich Baasch (born November 22, 1784 in Grasholz , today Eckernförde district, † May 14, 1853 in Eckernförde ) was a painter and senator in Eckernförde.

Hans Friedrich Baasch was married to Margaretha Johanna Fiebig. The couple had four children, including Johann Friedrich Theodor Baasch (born March 24, 1819 in Eckernförde; † January 19, 1872), painter and photographer.

Around 1803, Hans Friedrich Baasch trained as a painter with his future father-in-law, the painter Andreas Hinrich Fiebig. From 1807 he attended the Art Academy in Copenhagen . In 1812 he was awarded the large silver medal there. He broke off his studies and returned to Eckernförde in 1812. Especially in the period from 1824 to 1839 he achieved a high reputation for his portraiture . The striking outside staircase of the old town hall Eckernförde was built in 1836/37 according to his design.
