Location of the municipality of Mielkendorf in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district | ||
Mielkendorf is a municipality near Kiel in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . Maase, Lehmteich, Ruhm, Blockshagen, Hohe Leuchten and Steinfurt are located in the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Mielkendorf is located on the Eider directly southwest of Kiel on the federal motorway 215 from Kiel to the Bordesholm motorway triangle .
history
Mielkendorf was first mentioned in 1238.
In today's municipal area there were five villages, probably built in the High Middle Ages, three of which, however, only existed for a few centuries. While Johannsdorf (Hansdorf), Blockshagen and Belekendorf were given up again, Mielkendorf and Steinfurt have been preserved. However, Blockshagen is still a locality and Hansdorf can still be found in the name of the Hansdorfer See and the Hansdorfer Tannen forest. In addition to Mielkendorf, the village of Steinfurt is also a district of Rodenbek .
The municipality has existed in its current form since 1951. Before that, the area of the then formed Rodenbek municipality belonged to Mielkendorf.
politics
Community representation
Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the BGM community of voters has eight seats and the SPD five since the 2018 local elections .
coat of arms
Blazon : “Raised divided by gold and green with three pointy curved dividing line. Above two green oak leaves, below a silver wavy bar. "
Mielkendorf received the coat of arms in 1988 on the occasion of its 750th anniversary. The dividing line between the yellow and green sections cites the characteristic three-part pointed gable of the Mielkendorfer gym.
economy
The place was originally characterized by agriculture, but today residential use predominates due to its proximity to Kiel.
