Rade b. Rendsburg is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Rade is located about 5 km northeast of Rendsburg on the Kiel Canal . Federal motorway 7 runs to the west from Rendsburg to Schleswig and to the south the federal motorway 210 from Rendsburg to Kiel .

The Europe bridge over the Kiel Canal in the course of the federal motorway 7 is also called " Rader Hochbrücke ". Here she crosses the Rader Island , which mostly belongs to the municipality of Rade.

history

Rade was first mentioned in 1487 as Dorp thom Rade .

The smokehouse, built around 1700, is a half-timbered building that housed the school until 1823 and is now used for festive events.

There were eleven brickworks in Rade, which supplied almost all of the bricks for the Rendsburg fortress . However, they were all closed until 1901 because the clay was completely mined.
