Hummelfeld ( Danish : Hummelmark ) is a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

Hummelfeld is about seven kilometers west of Eckernförde on the edge of the Hüttener Mountains . The districts Elmenhorst, Fellhorst, Frenrade, Kirchdiek and Wolfskrug belong to the place.

history

Old school Hummelfeld

Hummelfeld was first mentioned in 1462. The place name goes back to the Old Norse or Low German word for hops (anord. Humla , ndt. Hummel , Danish. Humle ). The place name means hop field , transferred from the Danish Hummelmark in the meaning of mark for clearing, field . Ecclesiastically, Hummelfeld belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Kosel .

The community was originally called Hummelfeld-Wolfskrug. The name was changed in 1932.

Community representation

Since the local elections in 2013, the KWH voter community has all nine seats in the municipal council. This election result was confirmed in the local elections on May 6, 2018.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is predominantly agricultural. Only a few small craft businesses are based on site. North of Hummelfeld, the federal highway 76 runs from Schleswig to Eckernförde.
