The federal autobahn 215 (abbreviation: BAB 215 ) - short form: Autobahn 215 (abbreviation: A 215 ) - is a 21 kilometer long autobahn in northern Germany . It connects the Schleswig-Holstein state capital, Kiel, with the western federal motorway 7 in the direction of Hamburg .

history

On the occasion of the 1972 Olympic Games , the city of Kiel was connected to the German trunk road network. On August 4, 1972, the entire piece was opened by the then Lord Mayor of Kiel Günther Bantzer .

State of development

The A 215 has four lanes throughout (plus hard shoulder ). Between the traffic lights on the Kieler Westring and the Kiel-Mitte junction, a third lane was set up instead of the hard shoulder to improve traffic flow.

The Bordesholm motorway triangle was created as a fork in the motorway ; it only serves the traffic connections from the A 215 to the A 7 in the south and vice versa. The traffic from Kiel to the north starts at the Kiel-West motorway junction and the A 210 , which reaches the A 7 at the Rendsburg junction around 20 kilometers further west .

Kilometrage

Coming from the direction of Hamburg, the kilometers at the Bordesholm triangle start at km 2.1. In the opposite direction of travel, the A 215 ends at the junction with the A 7 at km 0.0. This is due to the fact that there are approx. 2 km between the merging of the A 215 onto the A 7 in the direction of Hamburg and the junction of the A 215 in the direction of Kiel. The fixed point of the kilometering is the end of the Kiel-Hamburg ramp.
