Map with all coordinates: The federal autobahn 448 (abbreviation: BAB 448 ) - short form: autobahn 448 (abbreviation: A 448 ) - is a currently emerging urban motorway in the Ruhr area . It will connect the A 40 in the west of Bochum with the section of the former A 44 (since January 1, 2017 also as BAB 448) in the east of Bochum and is intended to relieve the parallel A 40 as a sub-project of the so-called "Bochum solution".
After completion of the Bochum-West motorway triangle in 2015 and before the gap was expected to be closed in 2020 (3.3 km) to the previous A 44 at the Bochum / Witten motorway junction , sections of the Bochum outer ring in between were renamed and rededicated as A 448. The connection points are called:
- Bochum-West (previously Wattenscheider Str.)
- Bochum-Stahlhausen (previously Kohlenstrasse)
- Bochum-Eppendorf (previously Schützenstr.)
- Bochum-Weitmar (previously Wasserstr.)
- Bochum-Süd (previously Königsallee)
- Bochum-Wiemelhausen (previously Universitätsstrasse ) and
- Bochum-Altenbochum (connection of the rear part of the Bochumer Ring to the Opel clasp ).
Work on the Bochum-West motorway junction began in 2009. Earthworks for the construction of the A 448 in Bochum-Laer began in October 2011, and the Donezk Ring towards Wattenscheider Strasse and the Bochum-West triangle began at the same time. Work on the actual crossbar: From September 10, 2012, a bypass was set up for the construction site of the Schattbachstrasse bridge. With an official press conference at the bridge construction site on October 30, 2012, construction work began on the 2.3 km long section to be built.
On June 11, 2012, the conversion work to the motorway began on the existing parts of the outer ring, which was scheduled to run until mid-2014. The road surface and guard rails will be renewed, and the outer ring tunnel will be brought up to the latest safety standards with around 13 million euros.
The Bochum-West motorway junction and the first section of the A 448 to the Bochum-Süd junction were completed in June 2015. On August 24, 2018, the extension of the A 448 from the Bochum / Witten junction to the Bochum-Altenbochum junction (eastern part) was completed. Approved. The final connection of the two sections was initially expected for the turn of the year 2019/20, but will be delayed until the end of 2021 and will also be another 30 million euros more expensive.
In earlier planning phases, the names A 441 and A 442 for this motorway were also in circulation.
