The Bochum / Witten motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Bochum / Witten ; short form: Bochum / Witten junction ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 43 ( Münster - Wuppertal ) with the federal highway 448 ( Bochum - Dortmund ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the urban area of Bochum in the city districts east and south , near the city limits to Witten . The closest districts are Querenburg , Laer and Langendreer . It is located about 25 km north of Wuppertal, about 20 km east of Essen and about 12 km southwest of Dortmund.
The A 43 leads north via Herne , Recklinghausen , Marl , Haltern am See , Dülmen and Nottuln to Münster and south via Witten-Herbede and Sprockhövel to Wuppertal (via A 46 ), Cologne (via A 1 ), Düsseldorf (via A 46), Bremen (via A 1) and Gevelsberg (via B 326 ). The A 448 ended in a westerly direction at the motorway junction until the end of August 2018 and merged into the federal road 226 in the direction of Bochum-Zentrum, since then it has continued to the Bochum-Altenbochum junction. From 2020 it will lead (with the so-called Opel cross - clip ) over part of the Bochum outer ring to the Bochum-West motorway triangle (former junction Bochum-Stahlhausen of the A 40) on the A 40 . The connection of the B 226 to the A 448 remained as a partial junction belonging to the motorway junction : the access to the A 448 is only possible to the east, the exit only to the west. The A 448 leads eastwards via Bochum-Langendreer, Witten-Stockum , Witten-Annen to the Dortmund / Witten triangle on the A 45 ( E 41 ).
Design and state of development
The A 43 has four lanes, the A 448 in the direction of Dortmund has six lanes. All connecting ramps are single-track.
The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf . On the A43, it forms a double junction with the Bochum- Querenburg / Ruhr-Universität junction.
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 140,000 vehicles every day.
