The Bochum motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Bochum ; short form: Kreuz Bochum ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 40 ( Ruhrschnellweg ) with the A 43 ( Münster - Wuppertal ).

The motorway junction is located in the urban area of Bochum in the northern district. The closest districts are Laer , Werne , Bergen , Gerthe and Harpen . It is located about 5 km northeast of Bochum city center and about 15 km west of Dortmund .

The Bochum motorway junction has junction number 38 on the A 40 and number 17 on the A 43.

Design and state of development

Both motorways have four lanes, the connecting ramps are single-lane.

The cross was laid out as a shamrock .
