The motorway junction Recklinghausen (abbreviation: AK Recklinghausen ; short form: Kreuz Recklinghausen ) is a motorway junction in Recklinghausen ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 2 ( Oberhausen - Hanover - Berlin ; E 34 ) with the federal highway 43 ( Münster - Wuppertal ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the urban area of Recklinghausen in the district of the same name . The closest districts are Hochlarmark, Stuckenbusch , Grullbad and Hillerheide. It is located about 55 km southwest of Münster , about 20 km northeast of Essen and about 20 km northwest of Dortmund .
The Recklinghausen motorway junction has junction number 8 on the A 2 and number 12 on the A 43.
Former Hohenhorst service area
Directly after the motorway junction on the A 2 in the direction of Oberhausen there is a motorway police station and the former service area. In 1939, the Stuckenbusch petrol station was opened on what was then the Reichsautobahn , and in 1955 a service station of the same name and later renamed Hohenhorst was added. The rest stop was then closed in mid-2005.
Design and state of development
Federal Motorway 2 has six lanes, while Federal Motorway 43 in the Herten to Hochlarmark area has six lanes in the course of bridge renewals. All connecting ramps are single-track. A rain retention basin as well as emergency stop bays and a traffic webcam was built in the motorway junction itself.
The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 170,000 vehicles every day.
