The Magdeburg motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Magdeburg ; short form: Kreuz Magdeburg ) is a motorway junction in Saxony-Anhalt . It connects the federal freeway 2 ( Oberhausen - Hanover - Berlin ; Europastrasse 30 ) with the federal freeway 14 ( Wismar - Magdeburg - Dresden ; Europastrasse 49 ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the municipality of Hohe Börde in the Börde district . Surrounding cities and communities are Niedere Börde , Barleben , Hohenwarsleben , Irxleben and Magdeburg . The closest districts are Olvenstedt in Magdeburg as well as Dahlenwarsleben in the area of the Niedere Börde and Ebendorf in the Barleben area. It is located about 130 km west of Berlin, about 135 km east of Hanover and about 5 km northwest of Magdeburg.
It is also located on the edge of the Magdeburg Börde .
The Magdeburg motorway junction has junction number 68 on the A 2 and number 2 on the A 14.
history
The A 2 was built here in the 1930s. The construction of the A 14 did not follow until 1998 and was first released to the south. The section to Dahlenwarsleben was then released on November 8, 2000. A further extension to the Schwerin junction is currently being planned and partially under construction.
Design and state of development
The A 14 has four lanes to the north and six lanes to the south. The A 2 is also developed with six lanes. The direct ramps in the southeast and northwest quadrants and the tangent ramps are two-lane, while the indirect ramps and the direct ramp in the northeast quadrant are single-lane.
A clover leaf was chosen as the design. Instead of an indirect ramp coming from the A 14 from Halle onto the A 2 to Hanover, a tangent carriageway with two bridges was built. This is intended to relieve the heavily frequented Halle-Hanover route.
Traffic volume
The Magdeburg motorway junction is driven through by around 102,000 vehicles every day, making it one of the busiest traffic hubs in Saxony-Anhalt.
