The motorway junction Dortmund-Nordwest (abbreviation: AK Dortmund-Nordwest ; short form: Kreuz Dortmund-Nordwest ) is actually a motorway triangle in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 2 ( Oberhausen - Hanover - Berlin ; E 34 ) with the federal highway 45 ( Sauerlandlinie ; E 41 ).
geography
The motorway junction is in the urban area of Castrop-Rauxel in the Recklinghausen district . Surrounding cities are Dortmund and Waltrop . The closest districts are Mengede , Mengeder Heide and Brüninghausen , belonging to Dortmund, and Ickern , which is in the area of Castrop-Rauxel. It is located about 10 km northwest of Dortmund city center, about 15 km northeast of Bochum and about 30 km west of Hamm .
The Dortmund-Nordwest motorway junction has junction number 12 on the A 2 and number 2 on the A 45.
Design and state of development
Before the renovation in 2006, the motorway junction had the shape of a half-leaf clover , as the original plans included an extension of the 45 motorway in a northerly direction past Waltrop, Datteln and Olfen to the A 43 . After the renovation, it became a right-hand trumpet. Only one of the four ramps originally planned is still in use. Only one bridge was planned, which would lead the main carriageway of the A 45 over the A 2. Today there are two bridges, as the traffic is directed over the parallel lanes.
In 2013, a renovation was carried out again, as there has been an increased number of accidents since the renovation in 2006 due to the short interwoven area between the Dortmund-Mengede junction and the A 2 in the direction of Oberhausen. The access to the A 2 took place from 2006 to 2013 in front of the Dortmund-Nordwest motorway junction. The vehicles coming from the A 45 used a separate driveway to the A 2 in the direction of Oberhausen. Since 2013, both driveways have been served by the parallel lane.
The A 45 has four lanes, the A 2 has six lanes. The newly constructed connecting ramp from the A 2 from Hanover to the A 45 is two-lane, the remaining ramps are single-lane.
The motorway junction was designed as a right-hand trumpet . On the A 2, the cross forms a double junction with the Dortmund-Mengede AS .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 110,000 vehicles every day.
