The motorway junction Olpe-Süd (abbreviation: AK Olpe-Süd ; short form: Kreuz Olpe-Süd ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in the southern Sauerland . It connects the federal highway 4 ( Aachen - Eisenach - Görlitz ; E 40 ) with the federal highway 45 ( Sauerland line ; E 41 ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the municipality of Wenden in the Olpe district , on the city limits of Olpe . The closest districts are Gerlingen , belonging to Wenden, and Dahl and Saßmicke , in the Olpe area. It is located about 20 km northwest of Siegen , about 65 km southeast of Dortmund and about 60 km east of Cologne . The cross lies in the middle of the Ebbegebirge nature park .
The motorway junction Olpe-Süd has junction number 28 on the A 4 and number 19 on the A 45.
history
The motorway junction was built until the mid-1970s in the course of the further construction of the A 4 to Olpe and the construction of the A 45 from the Westhofen junction to Gießen . At that time the A4 ended a few kilometers east of the junction at the Wenden junction . Between 2002 and 2006 the section of the A4 from Wenden to Krombach and on to Siegen was built along the Hüttentalstraße . A further construction up to the Hattenbacher Dreieck was planned, but was discarded in favor of a new building of the federal highway 508n .
Design and state of development
Before the extension in 2006, only the parallel lanes and the crossings were in operation on the A4.
Both motorways have four lanes in this area. All connecting ramps are single-track.
The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf . On the A 4, the cross forms a double junction together with the AS Wenden .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 97,000 vehicles every day.
