The A 17 at the Dresden-West triangle |
The Dresden-West motorway triangle (abbreviation: AD Dresden-West ; short form: Dresden-West triangle ) is a motorway triangle in Saxony in the Dresden metropolitan area . It connects the federal motorway 17 ( Dresden - Prague ) , which begins here, with the federal motorway 4 ( Aachen - Eisenach - Görlitz ).
geography
The triangle lies in the urban area of the Saxon state capital Dresden , on its western city limits, south of the Upper Reservoir near Oberwartha . The Dresden districts of Rennersdorf , Brabschütz , Podemus , Roitzsch and Unkersdorf are closest . It is located about 10 km west of Dresden city center, about 55 km northeast of Chemnitz and about 90 km southeast of Leipzig .
Two European roads will be unbundled at the Dresden-West motorway triangle . The E 40 and E 55 run on the A 4 east of the triangle on a common route. While the E 40 follows the A 4 to the west of the triangle, the E 55 turns onto the A 17 in the direction of Prague.
The Dresden-West motorway triangle has junction number 77b on the A 4 and number 1 on the A 17.
history
Construction of the BAB 17 began in August 1998 and its first section between the Dresden-West triangle and the Dresden-Gorbitz motorway junction was released on October 8, 2001. In the course of construction, the Dresden triangle at that time was given the new name Dreieck Dresden-Nord as the junction of the BAB 4 and the BAB 13 . Since December 21, 2006, the Federal Motorway 17 runs from the Dresden-West triangle to the Czech border.
Design and state of development
The A4 has six lanes in this area. In order to better disentangle the traffic flows and to facilitate threading, the A 17 can be used for a short time on eight lanes before it becomes four lanes again in a southerly direction. All ramps have two lanes.
The triangle was laid out as half a Maltese cross .
Traffic volume
The triangle is used by around 111,000 vehicles every day.
