The Kerpen cross (abbreviation: AK Kerpen ; short form: Kerpen cross ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia , which is located near Cologne . The A 4 ( Aachen - Eisenach - Görlitz ) ( E 40 ) and the A 61 ( Mönchengladbach - Koblenz - Hockenheim ) intersect here .

The cross lies in the area of ​​the city of Kerpen . It is located about 20 kilometers west of Cologne and about 45 kilometers east of Aachen. The cross is located in a branch of the Kottenforst-Ville Nature Park . Loersfeld Castle is not far from the cross .

The motorway junction is number 8 on the A 4 and number 20 on the A 61.

State of development

The cross has the shape of an adapted shamrock. The A4 has been expanded to six lanes in this area. There are four lanes on the A 61. All ramps are single lane.

It forms a double junction with the AS Kerpen on the A 4 .
