The Hockenheim motorway triangle (abbreviation: AD Hockenheim ; short form: Hockenheim triangle ) is located in the Rhine-Neckar area in north-western Baden-Württemberg . This is where the federal highway 61 ( Ludwigshafen - Koblenz - Mönchengladbach ) ( European route 31 ) leaves the federal highway 6 ( Saarbrücken - Mannheim - Nuremberg ) ( European route 50 ).
geography
The triangle is located in the urban area of Hockenheim , it is surrounded by the cities and communities of Ketsch , Reilingen , Sandhausen and Schwetzingen . 10 kilometers west of it lies just beyond the Upper Rhine Speyer and about 15 km to the north, the city of Mannheim . As an important traffic junction , it connects the A 61 to Nijmegen in the Netherlands with the A 6 from Prague in the Czech Republic to Paris in France .
Immediately south of the triangle is the Hockenheimring .
The Hockenheim motorway triangle is number 65 on the A 61 and number 30 on the A 6.
State of development
The A 6 has two lanes from the triangle to the north, as is the A 61. To the south, the A 6 has been expanded to six lanes due to the greater volume of traffic here. The junctions to the south are two-lane, those to the north are single-lane.
The triangle is laid out in a Y-shape.
Traffic volume
The triangle was passed by around 110,000 vehicles every day in 2015.
