Ensembles

Ensemble Kirchberg Oberköblitz

Oberköblitz, St. Emmeram

On the old west-east trade route, the so-called "Hohen Strasse" here, a church center was established on a hillside. Where the trade route had to gain height again in a ravine after crossing the Naab Valley, a fortified church was built over high retaining walls on one side of the ravine, and the economy parsonage was placed on the other. The church and the parsonage were connected by a stone bridge that has existed since the Middle Ages over the ravine.

The former choir tower of the church was replaced by a new church in the first half of the 18th century; the parsonage is still essentially the Gothic building, so that the grouping is unmistakable both by its age and the particular landscape.

Ensemble Schlossberg

Wernberg, castle from the air

The Landgraves of Leuchtenberg had probably set up a base on the Burgberg above Wernberg near a Naab crossing ; in any case, they were the owners of the same in 1280, because in that year they sold the castle and its affiliations to Konrad von Paulsdorf.

Since the terrain slopes steeply to the west, north and east, access from the south-east is created via a double ditch. In a semicircular enclosure outside the second ditch, the forecourt is surrounded by mainly agricultural buildings; between the two middle ones, a farm and the courthouse (Schloßberg 1 and 2) the driveway leads into the forecourt, which rises from Wernberg up on the southern flank of the Schloßberg. Between the outer and inner ring wall (Zwingermauer) lies the inner, upper ditch, which has to be crossed by a bridge. The gatehouse at the southeast corner of the actual castle is protected by the keep towering behind it. The castle on an almost oval floor plan contains three small courtyards inside.

The ensemble documents the allocation of a semicircle halfway up the front courtyard to the castle complex, which towers over the largely preserved fortress walls.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
